The Magic Of Making Your Bed

Once upon a time, making my bed was just not one of my priorities. For the most part, I never really saw the importance of it and to be honest, I just downright couldn't be bothered!

The only time I would bother making my bed was if I knew that someone was coming over and might possibly see it (hey, I didn't want my friends or family thinking... OK, knowing how lazy I was!).

Other than that, I just never really saw the point - as far as I was concerned, I was only going to come back to my room at the end of each day and mess it up again anyway.

Then, one morning, I just decided that I was going to make my bed. I don't know why I did it, but I'm really glad I did.

Making your bed is a really great way to feel like you are starting your day off on a "clean slate", not to mention is a great way to air out your sheets and blankets a little so that no smells or moisture get trapped in (maybe you get too hot at night and possibly sweat a little?).

The other thing that I found was that making my bed somehow made me feel more organised, calmer and more peaceful.

They say that the state of your surroundings can have a big impact on your mood even if only on a subconscious level, so if your room/ house/ desk/ car/ whatever is messy and cluttered, then chances are that's also how you'll feel internally, even if you're not 100% aware of it.

Making your bed also makes you more inclined to keep the rest of your room clean, as mess attracts more mess, but I find that when I've gone to the effort of cleaning or tidying up, I want to try and keep the place that way as long as possible!

Another thing that I love about making my bed is how comfortable and inviting it is at the end of the night when bedtime finally rolls around - there's nothing like slipping under neat and tidy sheets without having to wrestle with them first.

Lying down to sleep is not the ideal time to be frustrated, which is how you'll end up after trying to untangle twisted sheets!

How regularly do you make your bed? Are you a bed maker, or do you share the same sentiment that I used to and feel that it's a waste of time and energy?

If making your bed isn't part of your regular routine, why not give it a go and see if it makes you feel any different? I'd love to know if it makes a difference for you - try it out and let me know what you think! 😊

Happy to have you here and I hope you have a great day/ night!

I never usually make my bed because I'm too tired in the morning so would rather sleep lol.

I might give it a go though after reading this...

I used to be the same! ☺️ Now though, it makes my room feel so nice to have a made bed. Almost makes the room feel bigger somehow…
